In January 2003, Africa Kosher Safaris ( is
putting together a special trip for JOC members -
a 13 day Kosher Africa adventure tour and safari in South Africa for an
unbelieveable $1220.

Let me put this in perspective by comparing it to other South Africa Tours
of similar duration. (With single supplements, doesn't include flight)

Wilderness Travel- $6615
Adventures Abroad $2999
Big Five $6490
Mt-Sobek - $3890
Outer Edge $2540
Journeys - $ 2710
United Touring Company $4215
Kosher Expeditions - $3995

Believe me when I tell you that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity at
a once in a lifetime cost.

Ok, so how do they do it? About 5 months ago, I was approached by Africa
Kosher Safaris to work on a special trip for JOC. I told them that the trip
has to be JOC style - adventurous, friendly, and inexpensive so it
doesn't exclude those on a tight budget. After months of meetings, phone
conversations and emails, this 13 day trip is the result.

In short, there are no fancy shmansy accomodations, gourmet dinners, fancy
busses, servants, etc... Instead, they put all your money into incredible
activities that the attached itinerary below tells you all about. And in
typical JOC
style, all people will be expected to chip in for cooking and clearing up.
The trip price in contingent upon there being 15 attendees so there are
economies of scale as well. Also, because the trip is being promoted solely
through JOC, there are no marketing expenses that have to get passed along.
Last, the folks at Africa Kosher Safaris are hoping that this trip will get
the word out about their other amazing trips, so the profit margin is razor
I must warn you though, if you want something luxurious, this is not the
trip for you - for triple the price, I can direct you elsewhere
(Though Africa Kosher Safaris also does luxury trips).
If you want great adventure that cuts costs on the "non-activity" parts of
trip - this is for you.
Please note that I will not be guiding this trip. (Alas, due to a rigid
school vacation schedule, I won't even be able to go, unfortunately)

So the following is the itinerary for the trip, also included as an
attachment. If you are interested in
