Horseback Riding & A Whole Lot More
Cost:$65 by 5-27 / $75 after 5-27
Organizer:Bonnie Gluck
Organizer Email:joc_event@yahoo.com

Come spend Sunday, June 18th with the JOC at a dude ranch in the scenic Delaware Highlands of Milford, PA, only 75 miles from New York City. Besides horseback riding you can take a canoe/rowboat out on the lake, swim in the indoor pool, play volleyball, tennis and basketball, or test your marksmanship skills at the rifle range or archery field. We will end the day with a BBQ at the lake (at approximately 4:30pm). Here is all the info in Q and A format: WHAT TIME DO I NEED TO GET UP? We have use of all the facilities at the ranch from 10:00am - 5:30pm. Please allow about 2 hours to get there from the Upper West Side (I suggest you leave by 8:00am). Exact directions will be given to attendees in due time. HOW DO WE GET THERE? After people sign up, I will create a separate email list for those who are going. I will send out an email giving out information re: who has cars and from where they are leaving. It will be your responsibility to contact the drivers and arrange a ride. Fortunately, most of our drivers are very accommodating and people don't tend to have problems with this aspect of the trip. Participants will be expected to reimburse drivers generously. WHAT SORT OF RIDING WILL THERE BE, HOW LONG IS THE TRAIL RIDE? All riders are subject to a walk ride first in order to assess their ability and to familiarize you with the wranglers. Those showing the necessary abilities to advance will be placed on more advanced rides. Everyone should be able to ride for an hour in the am and an hour in the afternoon. To ensure that this happens I will be limiting the trip to 40 riders, and will schedule riding times in advance. WHAT SHOULD I BRING? For horseback riding: long pants, sneakers are acceptable, boots preferable. Bring a bathing suit & towel if you'd like to go swimming, camera, Frisbee, sunscreen, and a light lunch (again - BBQ at 4:30pm). There is a snack bar in the arcade. MISC NOTES: The pool is open from 10:00 A.M. - 1:30 P.M., and the rifle range is open from 10:30-1:30. Other activities such as volleyball, basketball, tennis and archery are available anytime. See front desk for equipment. WHAT DOES IT COST AND HOW DO I PAY? The cost is $65 if payment is received via paypal BY May 27th. To encourage people to pay in advance, the cost will be $75 after May 27th. Paypal fees are included in these prices. Transportation, lunch, and tip are not included (tipping the wranglers is discretionary). ADDITIONAL COSTS (payable on day of trip): $10 to reimburse your driver for gas, tolls and trouble if you are getting a ride. There are also additional fees for the rifle ammo and clay birds and quarters are needed for pinball, video games, and pool table. WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY? One may cancel until 5:00pm on May 28th without penalty (refund will be issued via paypal). After that, anyone who cancels must find a replacement on his or her own. WHAT IS THE DEADLINE? All payments for this trip must be made via paypal and RECEIVED by Monday, June 12th. Please note than an email alone will not reserve your spot. HOW DO I SIGN UP? Please email the following information to me at: JOC_Event@yahoo.com: 1. What is your full name? 2. What are your home and cell phone numbers (please indicate which is which)? 3. For drivers: Where are you driving from; Can you pick up/drop off from the UWS; How many passengers can you take? 4. If you need a ride, from where? 5. Brief description of your horseback riding experience, such as how many times you have gone riding in the last five years, comfortable at a trot, canter etc. (I will do my best to group folks together based on experience). 6. Send in your payment via paypal AFTER you receive a confirmation from me that there is still a spot available. This trip will be limited to 40 participants, and to make sure that everyone will be able to get a ride up I will be looking for 12 drivers. If you have any other questions, please email me at: JOC_Event@yahoo.com. Thanks! Bonnie
