Meadowlands Canoe/Kayak tour

**This event is sold out!** What do you think of when you hear The Meadowlands? Huge concrete stadium? The Turnpike? Jimmy Hoffa? How about... a biologically diverse sanctuary teeming with wildlife? Home or migratory flyway for dozens of bird species? A vital ecological gem that has made a tremendous recovery in the past 10 years? Join JOC for this unique event - a 2-hour naturalist-guided canoe or kayak tour through the Hackensack Meadowlands. The trip will be timed with low tide to maximize wildlife viewing opportunities. Here's what you'll get: - 2 hour wildlife viewing paddle in your choice of canoe or kayak (solo or tandem). - Option to keep the boat out for the afternoon after the tour, at no additional cost. - Basic paddling instruction, safety instruction, and use of whistle and life jacket. This trip will be limited to 19 participants. All decisions regarding participation in this event will be at the discretion of the event organizer to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the entire group. DATE: Sunday, May 21 WHERE: Laurel Hill County Park, Secaucus NJ TIME: Arrive no later than 8:45AM; no later than 7:45AM if getting a ride from the Upper West Side (Bagel Basket, 618 Amsterdam Ave., corner of 90th) COST: $32 payable only via PayPal (instructions sent to event participants), + $8 to reimburse your driver for gas, tolls and trouble if you are getting a ride To sign up, email the following information to me at seth.joc@gmail.com: 1. Choice of boat - solo kayak, tandem kayak or two-person canoe: First choice: Second choice: If selecting a tandem kayak or canoe, name of requested partner, or do you want to be matched up with someone? I will send out emails after Yom Tov to let you know if you are registered or on the waiting list. Complete details (payment, directions, weather and cancellation policy, etc.) will be sent to registered participants.
