Details:
Im incredibly excited to be planning the first ever JOC ski trip out West this winter, to take place in Colorado, from February 18-25 (Presidents Week). Woo hoo! This trip has been in the works for many months now, and will surely be the most fun thing you can do Winter 07. The deal is a great one, and people Ive spoken to seem very excited about the idea. I hope you can join! Here are the details:

WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Our lodge is in the heart of ski country, in Summit County, Co, one hour from Denver, where we will have access to world class ski areas including Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and yes, Vail. With "The Colorado Ticket" that is included as part of the package, you will be able to ski the latter five resorts in the time you are there.

WHAT IS THE COST?
The cost includes the following: Flight from NY Five day multiple mountain lift ticket called the “Colorado Ticketâ€Â (see below for details) All food, from a Kosher caterer in Denver Accommodations Transportation to and from airport and to and from skiing: All for $1595 for regular, own bed accommodations, $1295 to share a Queen bed with another (in a private room), or take a pull out couch in a common area. And basically, you don’t have to spend an additional penny for this trip. Now, if you can find a cheaper trip offering all this, Ill throw in a set of free ginzu knives (it slices, it dices, it circumcises!) NOTE: The common areas on the main floor will have nobody sleeping there, so we can all hang out.

WHAT IS THE LODGE LIKE?
Two amazing, huge houses right next to each other: 12 bedrooms, 9.5 baths, outdoor hot tub, big screen tv, games, the works. Go to http://65.18.223.134/summitpeakslodge.com/resdesk/index.php to see it for yourself. No room will have more than 3 people in it, and most have two. There are some bunk beds, and choice is given on first come, first serve basis.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE COMING?
There is room for 32 people in total.

IS THIS FOR SINGLES ONLY?
I anticipate that most attendees will be single, but couples are welcome, of course, and there are many rooms with only a Queen bed. You are guaranteed not to be the only couple there :) .

WHAT IS THE FLIGHT DETAILS?
The flight reserved is Continental flight 528, departing Newark on Sunday, Feb 18 at 9:15 am, arriving 11:44 am in Denver. The return flight leaves Denver a week later at 5:30 pm and arrives in Newark at 11:11 pm A reminder that this flight is included in the price.

WHAT IS THE FOOD GONNA BE LIKE?
Expect delicious catered dinners brought in from Denver, with kosher meat and chicken, salads, sides, dessert. Breakfast will be cereal, both hot and cold, and sandwich lunches (PB, Jelly, Tuna, cheeses) will be available. If you have special dietary needs, we can try to accommodate. There is also a convenience store down the block. Sample dinner: Mushroom barley soup BBQ Ribs Roasted potatoes Coleslaw Rolls/margarine Dessert

WHAT IS THIS "COLORADO TICKET" ALL ABOUT?
This from a website: "The Colorado Ticket™ is a fully interchangeable lift pass, allowing you to ski or ride five of North America’s best ski resorts - Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin, all on just one ticket. The flexibility of The Colorado Ticket gives snow lovers access to over 11,000 acres of terrain, over 600 runs, and the chance to ride 91 different chairlifts--all on one single lift pass. You can start in the morning at 8:30 in Breckenridge and after a full day there, head over to Keystone for some night skiing until 9pm. This option allows the serious die-hards to stay on the mountain for a muscle-melting 12+ hours." Please note that with this pass, one can spend a maximum of two days at Vail. Nearby Copper Mountain is a great mountain in its own right, but is not included in the Colorado Ticket. People who want to ski Copper can make arrangements on their own. The five day lift ticket can be used anytime over the 8 day period we will be there.

HOW WILL WE GET AROUND?
Right down the block from us is a free Summit Stage bus stop, which takes you to the following mountains: Door to Door: Copper, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge To a transfer station, followed by another free shuttle: Vail, Beaver Creek For those who want the most possible flexibility, you can rent a car from Denver Airport. Please let me know if you do so. Other nearby resorts, not accessible by shuttle, include: Aspen/Snowmass - 49 miles Eldora Mountain - 37 miles Loveland - 20 miles Ski Cooper - 31 miles Solvista - 29 miles Winter Park - 29 miles

WHAT IF I NEED SKI/SNOWBOARD RENTAL?
There is a ski rental store down the block, from whom you can rent for the entire week. This is not included in the price. Their website is http://bluevalleyski.com/

WHAT IF I WANT TO DO ANOTHER OUTDOOR ACTIVITY?
With the five day lift ticket which can be used any of the 8 days we are there, there is, in theory, some time to do as you please. Options include snowmobiling, heliskiing, ice skating, ice climbing, and more. You are on your own to organize such trips, and arrange transportation.

WHAT IS THE RELIGIOUS LEVEL OF THE TRIP?
This trip is being organized as a Halachik, Kosher, Shomer Shabbat trip, and most people would consider themselves modern orthodox. But people are welcome to come from across the religious spectrum, as the respect that you have for the observance of attendees both to the right and left of you is more important than how you label yourself.

WHAT ABOUT SHABBAT?
Shabbat will be a day off, where we will chill in the lodge, play games, hear a shiur or two, go for walks, and learn the Myers-Briggs :) I am working on getting a Torah.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?
To reserve your spot, please make out a $200 check to Jewish Outdoors Club and mail to me at: Alon Krausz 508 Wyndham Rd Teaneck, NJ 07666 Please do NOT make out the check to me personally! This deposit will hold your spot, and the balance is due Nov 30. The deposit is fully refundable until Nov 30. After that, cancelees will forfeit their deposit, no exceptions! I anticipate that this trip will fill up very quickly, so if you know you want to go, dont wait to send in your deposit. This is especially true if you want the first pick in beds. After all spots are taken, I will create a waiting list. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at this address. Please do read this email carefully to make sure that your question wasnt answered in this text. Please do not call me at home, as email is much more efficient for me.
