Jennifer Walk -

Have you always wanted to learn how to ski (or snowboard), but never mustered up the courage to go with your friends who were skiing since age three?  (Smart move – I tried and do not recommend it.)  Do you wish you could just spend a day playing in the snow?  Have you wondered if ski lifts are as scary as people say?

This is your chance to experience one of winters most thrilling sports firsthand.  JOC will endeavor to take on Tuxedo Ridge, learning to ski or snowboard while gaining bragging rights.  Plus, if you learn to ski Feb 8, you can plan a trip to Vail or Northern NJ for Presidents Day Weekend to make use of your new skills.

The Plan

We will meet up SUNDAY FEB 8 at Tuxedo Mountain (about 35 minutes from the GW Bridge) at 8:45am, take a group lesson (split by level), ski, break for lunch, ski and meet for a mid-afternoon snack at 4:30pm.  We expect to be in the city around 6:30pm.  Note that this is a close, smaller mountain with mostly beginner and intermediate trails:

The Tentative Schedule

  • Leave for an amazing day of skiing / boarding
  • 8:45 Arrive at Tuxedo and gather equipment to get ready for our hour lesson.  Suiting up is a long process, so please arrive on time.
  • 9:00 ski and lesson
  • 12:00 lunch
  • Ski until 4:30
  • 4:30pm snack
  • 5pm depart for home

The Cost

  • Early Bird (by Tues Jan 27th) - $69 for skiing or $74 boarding (includes lift ticket, rental, lesson and light lunch)
  • Late Bird - $75 for skiing or $80 for boarding (includes lift ticket, rental, lesson and light lunch)

If you signup, please be committed to attend.  It would stink for others to be closed out when you dont come.
